Anatomy and Physiology 3

Please note that Anatomy and Physiology 3 is part of the second-year (third semester) studies according to the curriculum. Students are required to have participated in the Anatomy and Physiology 1 course. The first session will cover orientation topics, so attendance is highly recommended. If you are unable to attend the orientation, you are responsible for obtaining the course information from a fellow student attending the same implementation. The anatomy and physiology section includes both in-person teaching, small group working, and independent study. Contact teaching is designed so that the topics discussed in class have been studied in advance by the student. Successful learning requires that the student familiarizes themselves with the topic beforehand, for example by reading the textbook and completing any assigned tasks. In contact teaching, the focus is on the most important and challenging topics through reflection, questions, and discussion. **NOTE! Remote teaching is remote teaching, and contact teaching is contact teaching. Contact teaching cannot be followed remotely.** Contents and learning objectives: - Structure and function of the musculoskeletal system: The student identifies the major bones of the body and their structures and understands how joints between bones are formed. The student can explain the structure of a joint and understands its function. The student understands how muscles contract, can identify superficial muscles, and knows how they move the joints. - Regulation of metabolism: The student knows the main endocrine glands of the body, the hormones they produce, and their effects. The student understands the interaction between endocrine glands and the biological feedback mechanisms that maintain hormonal balance. - Reproductive system: The student understands the structure and function of the male and female reproductive systems, can explain the menstrual cycle, fertilization, implantation, and gastrulation. The student knows the structure and function of the placenta.
